9 th Annual CInSt Banking Workshop
On Friday, October 11th, under the glass roof of the tower room 508, at HSE (9-11, Myasnitskaya str.), the round table got together the researchers of empirical and theoretical banking. The Center for Institutional Studies held a 9th edition of the Annual CInSt Banking Workshop “Banking in Emerging Markets: Challenges and Opportunities”.
Ilya Prakhov, senior research fellow at CInSt, participated in the conference “Neighbours in science” in Perm, Russia
Ilya made a keynote speech "Factors of educational achievement of Russian university applicants" and presented key economic concepts of estimating academic achievements in quasi-experiments. There was a discussion on the importance of different individual, parental and school characteristics on school achievements.

The book "Professorial Pathways, Academic Careers in a Global Perspective" written with the participation of Maria Yudkevich, received the Council of International Higher Education (CIHE) Award for Significant Research on International Higher Education from the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) – 2019
The award is granted annually to a scholarship that has made a significant contribution to higher education research in a comparative perspective. The chapter by Maria Yudkevich is devoted to the Russian system of higher education.

CInSt researchers at the main European conference on higher education — CHER 2019
The conference took place at University of Kassel, Germany, and gathered 146 papers by researchers from over 30 countries. CInSt researchers addressed 5 different topics on higher education from bibliometrics to policy implications and economics of education.
