International Laboratory for Institutional Analysis of Economic Reforms (LIA) is a subdivision of the HSE University Center for Institutional Studies (CInSt). LIA was set up in HSE in January 2005. It pursues the general goal of becoming a globally recognized and acknowledged center for institutional research in higher education, banking, and public procurement. LIA’s research approach, widely using the instruments of institutional analysis, is multidisciplinary and based on the synthesis of economic analysis with sociological and psychological methods. One of the distinctive features and advantages of LIA is an empiric research (including the international comparative one) based on Russian, sometimes hand-collected, data.
